Storms On The Way

Good Evening! Lot of work put into this blog...haha. This time I have broken each day down to get you to the weekend. On the top of the weather headlines in Central Indiana today has been 3 things; Mild Temps, Windy Conditions, and the approaching Thunderstorm.

TODAY
We woke up to a rather mild start to the day. Our morning low was 38°, where we should average 11° cooler at 27°. As of 7pm, our official high for today is 52°. This marks more than 20 days with a temp above 50° this winter, the 8th day this month, & still counting in the days to come. Clear, Sunny Skies Dominated our outdoor weather scene. But the winds were a little on the windy side. 15-20 MPH today with Gusts up 20-25mph.

TONIGHT
A wave of energy in the form of a dry cold front will sweep by dropping our temps tonight into the upper 20s, low 30s. Forecasting a low of 28°. Winds should lighten up a little bit also. W 5-15 mph.

TOMORROW/TUESDAY NIGHT

After a chilly morning start temps will warm up once again into the 50s, High 54°. Cloud cover will increase throughout the day but it does look like we could squeeze some sunshine out in the morning lasting to as late as the early afternoon hours. A low pressure (storm) system out west in the Plains (see photo above) will gather itself and continue to move East & pass through Central Indiana during the late evening hrs. This system has the potential to spark up thundersorms bring damaging line winds & the threat for Hail. Extreme Southern Portions of the State near Kentucky has the Best Threat of some Tornadic Activity but we are not at that point right now.Low Temps will not budge too much from the high. Low 50°, possibly upper 40s.

WEDNESDAY/WEDNESDAY NIGHT

Left part of Photo is for Tuesday Evening, the Right Part is for Wednesday Morning

The Morning continues with Thunderstorms lasting to atleast lunchtime. Rainfall totals should finish off at less than 1".High Temps could reach 60s for the 2nd time this month since February 1st. This system will move out & we are left with Cloudy Skies for the rest of the day. Temps will begin to fall once this system passes. I'm a little skeptical now than yesterday, when I was throwing in snow showers for the evening so I'm not even going to call for it now. Low temps will be in mid 30s at 37°.

THURSDAY/THURSDAY EVENING
Clouds will clear & this will make way for a decent day after the storm. High Temp 47°.In the evening we'll be under clear skies with a low of 36°

FRIDAY/FRIDAY EVENING

Looking at a relatively cloudy day with a high near 60° but another wave of low pressure will move in bringing more chances of rain and perhaps some isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon. As the sunsets and temps begin to fall, I think we could get a few snowflakes particularly in the overnight hrs, but right now just making a call for a "CHANCE". Overnight Low 33°.

SATURDAY

Any Rain from Friday Night will begin to end. I cannot make any promises because chances are starting to look slim now but I will flirt with the possibility that temps will be cool enough and little moisture will be left over to produce a few flurries or a light wintry mix in the early morning hrs. Otherwise I think Saturday we'll have intervals of Clouds and some Sunshine for better part of the day with temps in the upper 30s possibly topping the 40s. Forecasting a High of 39°.

NEXT WEEK
A short dip in the Jet Stream this weekend will usher in cooler air for the beginning of the week. High Temps fall back to upper 30s and low temps back to mid to upper 20s. Also, another shot at some snow showers will be ahead of us but by the latter part of the week we may be back to a warm-up. Pretty typical for this time of year to be on a wavy weather pattern as we transition from a season that seems mostly non existent to another season that has been mostly present for this 2011-2012 Winter Season. I'll continue to update you on further developments on these 2 approaching storm systems for Wednesday & Friday as they become available. Hold on though! Still gonna be a bumpy ride for the next few weeks!
