Good Evening! Another beautiful day in Central Indiana. The thermometer dipped to 65° this morning. After this mornings fog burned off, the sunshine was waiting to shine upon us on the other side. We warmed up to an afternoon high in the mid to upper 80s. The 5pm unofficial high stood at 87°, this coming after 3 consecutive high temps of 93°. This seems to the popular temp considering its our highest temp of 2012, recorded 4 times total. We won't see that high again this month. Much relief is in store and Monday-Wednesday will be refreshing next week with temps in the upper 70s, low 80s below normal.
Saturday
High Pressure Prevails! If your heading to the air show here's your forecast: Expect more sunshine and warm temps in the mid to upper 80s. May see a few afternoon clouds otherwise looks nice. Morning Lows should be cool in the low 60s under clear skies. Your pollen count should be in the low-medium category. UV index will be at 8 which is very high. You'll need the sunscreen. Winds will pretty much be calm. NE/E 5-10 MPH.
Sunday
The day will start with morning lows in the low to mid 60s under mostly clear skies. Winds will stream in from the southwest which will give us a temperature boost back into the low 90s. We'll have some morning sunshine into early afternoon but clouds will begin to fill the sky in the afternoon. An approaching cold front will bring in our next "small" thundershower chance in the evening hours sometime after 5pm. Dew Points Temps will be near 60° so it may feel just a tad bit uncomfortable but not too terrible.
Mon-Weds
Relief from the Heat! Temps take a small dip to refreshing levels. Highs fall into the upper 70s, low 80s with morning lows down in the mid to upper 50s. The start of the week will be pleasant under sunny skies and rain free.
Thurs & Fri
Look for temps to pop back up to more seasonal temps with highs in the mid 80s and lows in the mid to upper 60s. I'm going with an upper 80° high for our Friday Afternoon. This will also continue into next weekend as well but temps are not expected to be well above normal. (Image below from Intellicast.com)
7 Day Total Precipitation GFS Model
Once again rain chances for the next week looks slim to none. We do have a shot on Sunday but that looks weak & dry. The model above depicts between a 0.25"-0.50" for North and Northeast Indiana. It looks like 0.25" or less for rest of the state to finish the month. Indianapolis is over 3" below normal for the month and over 5" below normal for the year. CPC latest weekly analysis has now updated to 78% of the state being under a moderate drought.
As dry conditions continue to persist more counties continue to be shaded in red or yellow on the burn ban map. Do not throw cigarettes and be careful grilling. Burning leaves & trash, and having campfires & bonfires are prohibited. As of 4pm (last update) 53 out of 92 counties are currently under a burn ban. Looking ahead, the heat looks to return next weekend and more sunny and dry days will continue. Not noted above this is a small shower chance for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday next week but I am overlooking this at the moment. This will become more clear in the coming days. Until then Have a Great Weekend!
