Toasty Weather Arriving

A trip back to the 90s! Its been about a month since our last 90 (July 23rd) and we've only had 5 total this year. We look to triple that number to possible 15 total by summer's end (if not more) because right now, it may be over 10 days before our highs cool back into the 80s again. Dew Points also going up! Low temps climb into the 70s, a good indication to where our Dew Points will be. We're talking oppressive humidity levels. We have a little less than 30 more days of (astronomical) summer and it appears it is making up lost time. We got a late start on the heat this year, our first 90 normally comes in June but we had to wait until July 16th and even our 1st 70 this year came late. Normally we see that mid March but it didn't end up coming until April 6th. Our last freeze was back on April 20th. I talked about frost and freeze dates in my last blog. If the heat brings you down, then keep in mind, September has a history of much cooler temperatures and October is the month for our first frost and freeze and not really just for us here but for most of the midwest and ohio valley region.

We've had 9 consecutive days with temps 80+ and temps have been 85+ for the past 7 days. Again, it only gets hotter from here. As this heat waves builds in and humidity becomes unbearable this can lead to the dangers of heat illnesses and injury. Heat is the #1 weather related killer in the U.S. Since its been awhile since we've seen hot temperatures like this, and possibly even the hottest since last summer, your body may have a hard time trying to readjust to this late summer heat wave. SLOW DOWN! BE SAFE OUT THERE AND HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE! CHECK ON ELDERLY AND PETS! DON'T LEAVE KIDS & PETS IN THE (HOT) CAR BY THEMSELVES!

This upper level high pressure system will keep the rain/storm chances to a minimum over the next 7-10 days. We have a very very small chance on Wednesday which likely won't verify. GFS says we'll get something perhaps a tenth of an inch but Euro says its a NO GO! There's little bit of better chance on Saturday/Sunday. The Euro is forecasting 0.77" of rain on this one but again GFS comes in with perhaps a tenth of an inch. So these aren't very promising rain chances at all but the second of the two will be worth monitoring. For now, I didn't include either chances in my 8 day at the end of the blog.

Heat Indices will top the triple digits this week especially Wednesday. Excessive heat watches/warnings may be issued. Here's a Special Weather Statement

Here's a look at my 8 day weather outlook below. Also, note the record high temperatures we'll be flirting with. If you can remember 2011 we had a late summer season heat wave as well where temperatures reached 95° on August 31, 99° on September 1st & 2nd, and a record 100° on September 3rd.
