Hot Monday On Tap (Noon Update)

Temperatures are heating up pretty quickly for this Monday Afternoon. The morning low temperature in Indianapolis was 69. The noon temperature is at 85° which is up 16° from the low. We are on track to potentially reach the 1st 90 of the year today. The last time this was achieved was 285 days ago on September 11th when the thermometer topped 95°. Looking over 143 years of weather recordkeeping, 61 years saw the 1st 90 after the average date of June 14th and 40 of those 61 years saw the 1st 90 by months end (between June 15th-30th).

Well today, the heat and humid continues. We'll be keeping in eye on the radar as storms could fire up and become more widespread the deeper we go into the evening. Not everyone will get wet but for those who do see these storms, could see wind gusts in excess of 40+ mph. They can be accompanied by blinding heavy downpours, frequent lightning, and even an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. SPC has not placed Indiana under any kind of risk for severe thunderstorms but just be aware, "When Thunder Roars, Go Indoors!"

Storms will be more numerous tomorrow and we will be mostly cloudy for the day. Not expecting much of a climb in the temperatures. Be aware those who see storms today and tomorrow could be in a risk for some flooding. Follow safe practices for some of these summer storms!

Here's my latest outlook. We get a slight pullback in temps and humidity for Tues-Sat with temperatures in the low to mid 80s but things start to heat back up and the humidity will be oppressive next week with dew point temps in the lower 70s!
