Not much of a treat for the weather being observed for this Halloween. You'll need to keep a look at (live) radar here.
A cold front is moving in so the weather will be unsettled today. We'll spend the day under cloudy skies dodging some light rain or drizzle. Temperatures won't warm up today at all. We've already reached our high temperature of 47 earlier this morning before 2AM. As temperatures slide down, the winds will kick up. Could see winds gusts in excess of 25-30 mph. This will make temperatures feel like they are in the 20s. Its possible some snow flurries or ice pellets could be added to the mix. The best time for that will be in the evening hours.

High Pressure moves in over the weekend so while things turn cold, we should be fairly dry and sunny. A freeze warning is being hoisted midnight tonight ending 10AM Saturday morning as temperatures are expected to drop into the mid to upper 20s across Central Indiana. Wind Chills "Feels Like" Temps will be the teens. If we fall to or below 32° (good chance we do) it will be the 1st time in nearly 200 days we've done so. The last time was on April 16th when the thermometer dropped to 26°. It'll also mark the 82nd time this year temperatures have been freezing or below. The average date for the 1st Fall Freeze is October 14th so we are running 2 weeks behind schedule. For a full history of 1st Fall Freeze Dates, I compiled a list. Indications are in November, there will be many troughs and ridges. This means will see periods of mild weather but with frequent interruptions of arctic intrusions. I imagine the forecast could prove to be difficult with many changes in the medium to long range. There is no sustained warmth or cold showing up at this distance for the moment. November though, is the fastest cooling month of the year where the average high drops 14° from 59 on the 1st to 45 on the 30th. The average low declines 11° from 40 on the 1st to 29 by the 30th. Starting November 23rd and ending March 14th, the average low is freezing and below. Also, the average date for the 1st measurable snow of the season arrives around November 19th. Last year, it came on November 11th (0.1").
Daylight Savings Time ends this Sunday!
This is a good news because we all get an extra hour of sleep as the time shifts from 2AM to 1AM. Don't forget to set your clock back 1 hour so you don't miss out!
The time change means, sunrise will be an hour earlier but unfortunately the sun will also set an hour earlier. Currently, night is longer than day and will continue until Spring arrives. Since the summer solstice on June 21st, we've lost about 4.5 hours of daylight time. During the month of November, we will lose about 55 minutes of daylight.
It is recommended that you utilize this time to test and/or change the batteries in your smoke detector. If it is more than 10 years old, you might want to replace them for about $10. More than 2,500 people die every year to house fires in the U.S. Three of every five home fire deaths resulted from fires in homes with no smoke alarms or non working smoke alarms.
Here's what you can expect for the next 10 days.
