Broken Heating Record

Good Afternoon! You are not dreaming guys, another record breaking high today. We smashed a 91 year old record hitting 82° yesterday. The old record 78° set in 1921. Today, the 1894s record of 80° is tied today more than likely we'll warm past it. Also, tomorrows 1907 record of 82° could be in Jeopardy as well, we could atleast tie it as well. Here's a list of some facts and record events so far this year
1. January 31st, 2012-Highest Minimum Temp Set of 50°. Previous Record. 48° in 1988.
2. We had the warmest stretch of mild days to End January and Begin February on record.
3. February 29, 2012-Highest Minimum Temp Set of 45°. Previous Record 44° in 1976.
4. March 14, 2012-Record High Temperature Set of 81°. Previous Record 79°. in 1990.
5. March 15, 2012-Record High Temperature Set of 80°. Previous Record 77° in 1977.
6. March 17, 2012-Record High Temperature Set of 77°. Previous Record 76° in 1894.
7. March 18, 2012-Warmest Low Temperature Tied. 60° was set back in 1874.
8. March 18, 2012-Record High Temperature Set of 80°. Previous Record 76° in 1903.
9. March 18-2012-New Record Event. This day marks the 7th consecutive day with temps 70° or above. Previous Record was 6 Days set 1998.
10. March 19, 2012-Record High Temperature Set of 82°. Previous Record 78° in 1921.
11. March 19, 2012-Warmest Low Temperature Recorded of 64°. Previous Record 60° in 1903.
12. March 2012-8th Warmest March on Record averaging a high of 65°, which is 13° above normal, from 52°.
NOTE: Two Records for Today, broken. Record Event #1-Warmest Low Temperature Set for this day is 62° in 1921. As of 1PM we stand at 63°, unlikely we will fall below 63° by Midnight. Record Event #2-Temps reached 80° shortly before 2pm. This currently ties the record.

Due to a strong ridge of high pressure in the upper atmosphere, we are finding ourselves in this stretch of mild, record setting days that will continue until the end of the week. We have a cut off low to the South that can stir up storms itself which could put us back into the threat for a pop up shower or thunderstorm in Central Indiana but this will hold off until the end of day Wednesday or as late as Thursday Afternoon. Also, temps will slighly fall back to 60s for the weekend. I see 60s and 70s from that point on to the next 2 weeks, still above average from mid 50s ton finish up March.

I'd like to mention that this is a bad day for allergies as the pollen count is high. This is caused by rising temperatures, strong winds, and lower relative humidity. Just a precaution for the easily abled sneezers.

Today
Partly Sunny Skies for us Today. Dew Point Temps are about 2° cooler than yesterday, indicating we are drier than yesterday. We did have a trace of precipitation yesterday. I think we should stay dry today. Temps are in the upper 70s approaching 80s. Looking to warm up to mid 80s this afternoon but a few clouds could possibly let us only reach low 80s instead if they stick around. This makes the 9th consecutive day with temperatures 70° or above.

What's Ahead
Before I saying anythings else, I would like to stress the importance that Forecasting is simply Predicting. What meteorologist say, does NOT necessarily mean that it will happen. For example, back in the fall, winter was predicted to be Cold & Snowy yet we end with above average temps and below normal snowfall. The complete opposite. This is one reason why weathermen are not taken very seriously. Thats why I also mention when I tell you whats ahead, that things will change and admit I could very well be wrong. Its simply impossible for any meteorologist, regardless of experience, to correctly guess the weather months in advance. Systems change, take different tracks, weaken or strengthen in the matter of hours, even minutes. This is one reason why I consistently update any changes immediately. What I say one week ago, could be different the day of. Don't get me wrong, some due hold out to be true. In January, I was pretty dead on with my weather predictions for February. But in February I was wrong about my weather predictions for this month of March. With that being said, the rest of March is currently showing that it will remain above average. But weather patterns are showing changes for the next few months starting with the first half of April. We could see a above normal temperatures falling to average temps then perhaps a below normal pattern by the tail end of the first half of the month. With the return of a cooler pattern comes the return of severe weather. April 1st, maybe warmer than April 7th. This is why I mentioned early that we could very well be saying goodbye to the 80s! Once again, this is subject to change. I'll deal with one month at a time. I won't bother with May or Summer at the moment. We have 90 days of Spring to get through, first. By the way, WELCOME ASTRONOMICAL SPRING!! Also, I'm crunching the numbers and I will be posting my Winter 2011-2012 Season Wrap Up blog before the end of the week.
