Cooler Weather Ahead

SPECIAL NOTE: National Weather Service Indianapolis, Indiana has several counties under a Freeze Watch for Thursday Night into Friday Morning. If you scroll to the very bottom I have inserted a excerpt of their special weather statement.

Good Evening! We are moving right along. Lately it seems like Summer has been here with 80s and 90s spread along Eastern and Central CONUS but we are actually wrapping up our 15th day of Spring. Not even a fourth of the way into the season. Here in Indianapolis we've already recorded more than a dozen temperatures above 70°, 8 days in the 80s and 28 of the past 30 days have been above normal (including today) and steadily counting. We can add yesterday to the list of record highs this year as mentioned in my brief blog Tuesday night.
Its been nice having such warm temperatures around but a late winter could briefly be spilling in. Flurries & Snow Showers (for Monday Night or Tuesday Morning) are questionable but Frost can only be promised at the moment. A chill will be in the air most of the mornings next week. Morning lows fall in 30s Monday-Friday next week. Then low 40s Saturday Morning. Highs mostly 50s, then 60s by Saturday.
The Avg High next week is 62°. Next weeks high could be running 5°-15° below normal til atleast the 14th.
The Avg Low next week is 41°. Next weeks low could be running 5°-10° below normal til atleast the 14th.
First we have the weekend to get through first. Tonight and Tomorrow, there is a chance of rain but they'll fall mostly South of I-70. May feel a sprinkle tonight but I think we'll remain fairly dry. Sunny with temps struggling to hit 60s for tomorrow. Frost is possible Friday Morning, temps drop to low to mid 30s. The Afternoon high possibly failing again to mark 60s. A quick warm up for the weekend in mid 60s but then we start to drop the other foot. The good news though is the 2nd half of the month look to be Normal to Above Normal.
I'd like to add that this record heat in this Spring has no correlation to what the weather lies for the summer. With La Nina pattern ending the next few months should become seasonal with temperatures running Normal to Above Normal. This summer should be cooler than last summer. The Avg High temperature during meteorological summer (June, July, & August) is 83°. Avg temp last summer was 87°. Lets focus on the remaining 2 months of Spring first. I'll go over this more when the day comes closer.
