Pleasant Weather Arrives

THE COUNTDOWN IS ON! SPRING OFFICIALLY BEGINS ON MARCH 20th AT 12:57PM

The spring season is within grasp. The days are becoming longer, the sun stronger, and temperatures trending warmer. We usually don't pick up a lot of snow in March but its not uncommon to pick up more than 2-3". In fact, we've already received 2.4" of snow so far this month. Remember last year, we had a whooper of a snowstorm that come late month that broke snowfall records. This storm helped contributed to the month's total snowfall of 14.5" ending the month as the 4th snowiest March on record. In case your wondering, the record for most snowiest March is held by 1906 when an astonishing 30.4" of snow was laid down for the month. We likely will not finish the month with something of that magnitude but keep your eyes open and don't be too quick to put away the snow shovels just yet. We won't have an all flat out pattern change but things will progress as we leave the harshest winter in 3 decades behind. We'll have a few days of warm weather interrupted by jabs of cold air and this pattern will continue all month. This is the typical March weather pattern! We'll deal with two seasons battling each other out all month long as we go through this transition of seasons. Since December 1st, 54 out of the past 96 days has had a trace or more snow and usually when you think winter is practically done that last snow event sneaks up on us to end the month. STANDBY FOLKS!

THIS WEEK
The colder air has retreated. Monday's high of 18 climbed to 32 for both Tuesday & Wednesday's high. On Thursday, we finally climbed above freezing after 107 consecutive hours with temps 32° & below. The high temperature reached 42°. Overnight's lows have been on the rise as well, Monday & Tuesday's low of 7° rose to 17° Wednesday AM and 18° on Thursday morning. On a side note, we've had 59 days since December 1st with low temps 19° and below. That's doubled last winters 29 to date. I think we've had our fair share of cold days this winter season. Temperatures are below normal but as you can tell they have been slowly moving in the right direction.
Most of the snow from Wednesday was focused to the North. If anything, only a few flurries fell in some spots in Central Indiana especially North. Clouds Thursday morning broke quickly allowing for plenty of sunshine Thursday afternoon. Temps looks to make a run towards 50s on Friday. More sunshine is on tap for Friday afternoon. Lets try to enjoy the sunshine and warmer temps while we can. The month of March averages 13 sunny days. This is actually one of the top 5 cloudiest months of the year so we'll take what we can get. Especially with the next disturbance coming over the weekend. High temperatures are typically in the middle to upper 40s with average lows in the upper 20s to lower 30s during the 1st week of March.

WEEKEND FORECAST
Clouds will thicken Friday night. A cold front will come through Saturday offering a chance for some light rain & snow. Not a big system so nothing to be too concerned about. Any accumulations will be minimal. Temperatures will still be somewhat mild reaching the low to mid 40s but will be cooler than Friday's high. Clouds clear out for Sunday and sunshine returns.

***10 DAY WEATHER OUTLOOK***

AVERAGE HIGH/LOW FRIDAY IS 48/30 || NOTE: DAYLIGHT SAVINGS BEGINS ON MARCH 9th!!!
