Nice Easter, Active, Wet & Warm Week Ahead

Happy Easter Everyone! The weather is fantastic for the day. Perfect weather for the kiddos to do Easter Egg Hunting. The sun is already shining and will continue to persist through the remainder of the day. Winds will be going up though possibly gusting to 25 mph at times. Those strong southerly winds will bring warmer temps across the area. Temperatures are progressing from the 30s and 40s in the morning to 50s and 60s in the afternoon. Since, Easter does not fall on the same date every year, the weather varies year to year. The warmest Easter afternoon was in 1941 when the high was 86. The warmest Easter morning was in 1942 when the low was 63. The coolest Easter afternoon was in 1894 when the high was only 23. The coldest Easter morning was in 1940 when the low was 15. For today, the morning low was 34. The normal high and low for April 5th is 60 and 39, respectively. For more Easter climatology, click HERE.

TONIGHT
High Pressure moves East allowing clouds to increase. The extra cloud cover will act as a blanket for much of the week keeping low temperatures above normal. Expect the temperature to drop into the mid to upper 40s this evening, around 10 degrees warmer than this morning. Conditions should remain dry.

MONDAY
We'll spend much of the day under cloudy skies. There is a possibility of some showers but the chance is low. However, moisture will be streaming in the from the South. A warm front will also pass early. You'll see the Dew Point tick up to the 50s, meaning the atmosphere is becoming saturated. Temperatures will peak in the upper 50s to lower 60s for highs.

MONDAY NIGHT
Cloudy skies continue to dominate. Chances of Showers & Thunderstorms will begin to increase for the week. Lows will be in the 50s.

TUESDAY-FRIDAY
Temperatures will continue to go up, eventually into the 70s through the week. Chances for Showers and Thunderstorms will be present each day of the week as a quasi-stationary front will be in place across the region. Most of the models say we reach the 70s Tuesday but I have a gut feeling we may end coming up just a tad short with the rain or storms. For the moment I am going against the latest modeling data and forecasting mid to upper 60s across Central Indiana, I could be wrong though. We'll see.

The Storm Prediction Center has highlighted areas just to our west for the potential of severe weather late week. Gusty winds and hail will be something they'll be looking out for Thursday into Friday. If anything holds together then it'll warrant attention for us in Indiana
We could see localized flooding concerns where blinding downpours are present. Remember to follow safe practices when severe weather conditions exist. Stay indoors when there is lightning and don't drive through flooded streets.
