Summer Came and Gone, Fall Settles In

We have now entered the last week of September and we are putting the summer season behind us. Fall stamped it's official arrival on Thursday, last week. Much like how Summer started on cue, Fall, thus far, is doing the same. We just had our coldest readings since early May and we'll continue to rival levels we haven't seen since in over five months, in the weeks ahead.

REGIONAL FORECAST
Cool and unsettled weather will persist into Wednesday across the Great Lakes region, bringing heavy rain to areas in Michigan extending south into the northeast interior of Indiana and Northern parts of Ohio. This will slowly depart as surface high pressure slides in from the Upper Midwest for Thursday and Friday.

LOCAL FORECAST
Cold air continues to deepen this week in Central Indiana as winds steer in from the northwest. On Monday and Tuesday morning, we saw temperatures drop into the 40s and this trend will continue for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. These levels are more typical for mid to late October and may be 10°-15° below normal for some locations. Afternoon temps will see a very slow incline from the lower to middle 60s on Tuesday and Wednesday to upper 60, lower 70s on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Despite the chilly Fall feel in the air, we are still seeing plenty of sunshine and dry conditions this week with a few occasional passing clouds from time to time. On a side note, yesterday began a streak where night time is longer than daylight. This will continue until Spring, ending on March 17. That being said, enjoy the sunny, dry days while we have them. Statistically, the months of November to April are the most cloudiest months of the year.

EXTENDED FORECAST DISCUSSION
As we enter the weekend, there will be some slight changes to the forecast. Moisture will gradually increase and we could flirt with a weak shower chance or sprinkles. This will be from what is leftover from a degrading tropical system (Hurricane Ian). We look to start Saturday dry with some sunshine and temps in the upper 40s to lower 50s. We will see some movement with temps expecting to reach the lower 70s before clouds move in. The added blanket will keep temps from dropping too low on Sunday morning with temps in the middle to upper 50s. Clouds may continue to hold, limiting sunshine. We will again, likely see afternoon highs in the lower 70s. The best chance for precipitation, if at all, will be on Sunday.

As we enter a new week on Monday, clouds will pull out East and sunshine will build back in for the afternoon and early evening. Sunshine and dry weather is expected for Tuesday and Wednesday, at this distance, along with mild temperatures.
