Great morning in the Hoosier state. Some sun is shining this morning and 9AM temps are in the upper 60s, low 70s.
Here's a look at your radar to the Northwest. This is moving through the Chicago area and pass through Northern Indiana. This isn't the big rain chance today. That comes later.
This is animated so depending on what time you are viewing this it is LIVE. But I am typing this as of after 8:45AM. This radar is available courtesy of Weather Underground.
Indiana is under a (slight) risk for severe thunderstorms. Wind damage and flooding will be the biggest concerns. Expect torrential downpours, straight line winds, some hail, prolific lightning, and maybe even a isolated tornado or two. Showers can kick off anytime after lunch time. So expect some spotty or scattered showers between lunch hour and early evening rush hour. Tonight will be a complete washout. The main event (strongest of storms), arrives around evening rush hour and gets out of Indy before or around midnight. Expect some lingering showers into your Saturday Morning. After all this is done with, we could be looking at over an inch for most upwards to 3" North.
As a strong cold front passes and the Jet Stream buckles down, we are looking at a much cooler and more pleasant & refreshing weekend ahead with some relief from the recent high humidity levels. Temperatures fall back into the low 70s. Some areas in the states may only record upper 60° high temps. Coolest Temps since early June.
Saturday
If the rain hasn't already ended in the morning than it will be ending. Roads and sidewalks will be wet. The clouds will also hang around. I am remaining optimistic for some afternoon sunshine. Temperatures won't climb too much, only into the low 70s.
Sunday
Clearing couds give way to a sunny day. It will be a cool, refreshing, dry, sunny day. Morning temps start off in the low to mid 50s. Highs top out in the low to mid 70s.
