A winter storm that has nearly 20 states in a winter weather advisory or winter storm warning is moving through the Midwest region and will impact Indiana tonight. A wintry cocktail of snow, sleet, and freezing rain is expected. There will be some light ice and snow accumulations. A winter weather advisory has been issued effective 7pm tonight and expiring 10am tomorrow.
This is NOT expected to be a significant system and this is not an ICE STORM. Though, just a little amount can be enough to wreck havoc on the roads. If your traveling Thursday Night or early Friday Morning, be careful, slow down, and be aware of your surroundings. Also, give yourself plenty of room between yourself and the car in front of you.
Not much has changed since my blog yesterday. Mostly all snow up in Northern Indiana with total accumulations between 2"-5 . Central Indiana will get the mixed bag of not so goodies. About 1"-3" of Snow, a quarter of an inch of ice accumulations or less, and 0.05" or less total sleet accumulation. This looks to move into the state anytime after 7pm reaching the Indy metro area on or after 8pm. The event should end by sunrise Friday.
Here's the weather story from the NWS.
Winds will likely be coming in from the South after midnight so early morning anything leftover will change from a light freezing drizzle to simply wet rain. Highs tomorrow will be in the low to mid 40s.
