Near Record Heat Now, Fall-Like Chill Later

21 out of the past 22 days sees high temps 84 & above
The heat continues on. We only average 2 more 90° days for the rest of the year (beyond September 1st) and we already got 1 of them. Monday's high was 93°. We look to get 2 more before the week is done with. The latest 90° date on record is October 8, 2007 (High 91°). So far this year, we've seen 12 days with temps 90+ and 76 days with temps 80+. We average 13 days in September and 2 days in October with temps in the 80s. The latest 80° day is held by November 1st, 1950. The average high for this time of the year is dropping into the upper 70s and the average low is dropping into the upper 50s. Each of the past 14 years has seen a 60° high by September 30th and 63 out the past 65 years has seen a 40° low in September. 2008 & 2009 didn't see the 1st 40° low until October 1st.

The heat and humidity will be here for both Today and Wednesday. Both days look to be fairly dry as well. We'll also be challenging the records for maximum high and records for highest minimum temp (warmest low temp).
Today: Record High-95° || Highest Minimum Temp: 74° (1919)
Wednesday: Record High-95° || Highest Minimum Temp: 72° (1900/1931)

As of 9AM this Tuesday Morning, the low temperature so far is 74° so there's a good chance we've tied today's record for highest minimum temperature set back 94 years ago in 1919. The actual temperature at 9AM was 78°. Expecting temperatures to warm into the 90s again with heat indices topping the triple digits!

COOLEST WEATHER ARRIVING SINCE EARLY JUNE
The last time we had a high in the 60s and a low in the 40s was both 99 days ago on June 3rd. The high was 68°: and the low was 48°. We look to be there Friday and/or Saturday.
A cold front looks to pass on Wednesday night into Thursday morning. This along with a Canadian High will do a few things:
(1) Trigger some showers overnight Wednesday lingering into Thursday morning. This will be our best shot at rain this week.
(2) Dew Points will plummet. They are expected to drop into the 40s by Friday/Saturday. Bye-bye humidity!!
(3) Dries out the air so it will feel very refreshing behind the front coming off near record heat. Expect bright sunny skies Friday and Saturday.
(4) Temperatures will get much needed relief. We'll dip back to sub 80s highs for a few days. We'll be a nice end to the week and a fabulous start to the weekend.

Here's the cold front Thursday Morning!

Cooler Air coming down as we go into the weekend!

Driest Start to a September in 8 Years
We've been stuck in this dry pattern for some time now and doesn't show signs of easing up within the next 2 weeks. Officially only a trace of rain for the first 9 days of September is the driest start since 2005. Only 1 out of the past 31 days has seen measurable rainfall and this is the driest period ever for August 10th-September 9th w/ only 0.30" this year. Expect worsen conditions when the weekly drought analysis is released later this week. Part of the hot temps late this season are a product of the dry soils. All solar energy goes towards heating. Things may change as we go through the change of seasons. When we get these wild temperature swings we can get storms to spin up. For right now, we're only looking at perhaps a tad over a half inch total over the next 2 1/2 weeks.
