As high pressure continues to shift East, temperatures will go up a few more degrees today but clouds will be on increase and another rainmaker will be approaching. This doesn't come with any severe weather or thunderstorms. This will be a light rain event but it appears to come in late Wednesday night prolonging into Thursday and Friday end early Saturday morning. Could be a few flurries associated with this system as it departs early Saturday morning. General precipitation totals will range between 0.50"-0.75". Temperatures climb into the low 50s for Thursday and Friday but some big time arctic chill is headed our way. We could be looking at high temperature readings that fail to get above freezing on Sunday. At the moment the high looks to be anywhere from 26°-29°. If this happens here's some things to know about it:
1. This is 19°-22° below the normal high of 48° for November 24th.
2. High will be 3°-6° below the normal low of 32°.
3. It will either be the coldest high in 277 days (Feb 20-27°) OR coldest high in 281 days (Feb 16-26°).
4. Additionally, it will either be the coldest high for November since 28° on Nov. 25, 2005 OR coldest high for November since Nov. 21, 2000.
5. It will NOT set a record for lowest (coldest) high temperature for November 24th which is currently held by November 24, 1950 when the high went down at 9°.
6. It will be the 36°-39° below the record high of 65° set in 1973.
7. If we manage to reach atleast 30° it will then be the coldest in 267 days instead. The high was 30 on March 2nd.
Beyond this we could see some wintry precipitation Monday night into Tuesday. Earliest snow totals coming in at a half inch. Won't count out a few flurries for Wednesday. Thanksgiving Thursday at the moment is looking dry at the moment w/ some clouds and plenty of sunshine. More details to come and along with some Thanksgiving climatology. At this distance, Temps might stay below 40° all of next week! From a climatological standpoint, the earliest the normal high is below 40° for 7 consecutive days is December 13th-19th. Overall through the winter, the average high is below 40° from December 13th-February 13th w/ the peak of winter occurring during the month of January.
Here's my updated outlook for the rest of the month.
