Warm Weather Continues, Cool Blast Looms

We've had a nice wonderful run of warm, sunny, and dry days. The tranquil pattern extends into this Monday afternoon. We are in our 2nd longest driest streak of the year tied with the 8 day run from July 15 to 22. Its possible our dry streak could extend into 10 days which will pass the 9 day run from March 3 to 11 making it the driest stretch of the year. Here's a look back at the month's high and low temperatures

Today is likely to mark the 4th consecutive day w/ highs in the 80s and we are likely to have the warmest last 7 days to a September since 2008. I'd advise you all to enjoy it while you can. We don't average no more than 5 days left for 80+ temps the rest of the year. Here are the last 80+ days of each year over the past 10 years.
  • October 4, 2013 (82°)
  • September 13, 2012 (81°)
  • October 10, 2011 (80°)
  • October 12, 2010 (83°)
  • September 23, 2009 (81°)
  • October 15, 2008 (84°)
  • October 18, 2007 (82°)
  • October 4, 2006 (85°)
  • October 5, 2005 (82°)
  • September 25, 2004 (80°)

A weak front passes on Tuesday, could offer a few isolated sprinkles or two but I think most of the state will remain dry. Just a few degrees cooler for Tuesday in the mid 70s with a few clouds but we should still see some sunshine from time to time. We will be dry and sunny on Wednesday but things will then begin to change as we end the week and go into the weekend. One front passes Thursday which will bring in some storms. Another front comes through Friday night into Saturday ushering in some of our coolest temperatures we've seen in over 4 months. Some communities particularly North, could be looking at the seasons 1st fall frost or even freeze. We'll probably be a little warmer in the city but we will be close to the upper 30s for Sunday morning lows. More info on the latest changes in the coming weather pattern will be provided in a future blog. Here is my latest 10 day weather outlook.
