Winter Continues To Settle In

The holiday weekend is coming to a close and calmer weather arrives to kick off the first work week of the year. Our stubborn cloud deck will continue to thin gradually through the evening hours. Winds will also decline tonight along with the temperatures. Not much has changed in previous forecasts. We are still expected to drop into the upper teens for Monday morning lows with wind chills in the single digits. Sunshine will be back to greet us tomorrow and with the calmer weather and diminshed cloud coverage, that will also extend into Tuesday, this will allow for a bigger spread in temperatures from the morning low to the afternoon high. We dropped below 32° shortly after 5:00 AM this morning so if we fail to reach 32° on Monday, we will likely be in a freeze for nearly 55 consecutive hours.
Clouds will thicken back up for Wednesday and Thursday. At this distance, Wednesday looks dry but a disturbance passing through the Tennessee and Ohio Valley will bring snow showers to the state on Thursday. Another push of arctic air will drop temperatures again for Thursday and Friday. This will be our season's coldest air. Drier weather is expected for most of Friday and Saturday. As high pressure departs, Saturday's temps will trend upwards but another disturbance may bring increased cloud coverage. Though not included in my outlook below, some precipitation could be possible late Saturday night but will quickly depart leaving for a drier but chillier Sunday.

***EXTENDED WEATHER OUTLOOK***
