Pleasant Dry Weekend Ahead

Good Evening Indy Hoosiers! We managed to dodge some much needed storm systems in Indiana on Thursday but others around us weren't so lucky. Over 450 storm reports spread across 15 states with WIND DAMAGE as the main threat for Thursday evening. There was a confirmed EF1 tornado in Elmira, New York with maximum winds sustasined at 110 MPH. This was New Yorks 1st tornado of 2012. There were also 38 reports of Hail.

Cold Front #1 moved through the state last night. It was pretty weak so it really didn't have a big impact on the weather but our morning lows did dip back into the upper 60s. We also managed to keep away from the upper 90s and the triple digit heat today. We had a high of 95° after a morning low of 69°. Today marks the 25th day of this month with a high temp 90° and above. This is tied with the 1901 record for most days in July with high temps 90° and above. Storms erupted in Central Indiana this afternoon. There were several reports of hail and wind damage. A NWS employee reported 1.25" diamater hail in Fishers. There was a 65 MPH Wind Gust in Monroe County and 60 MPH Wind Gust in Hamilton County. Also there was a report of a transformer blown, power lines and trees down in the Flora area in Carroll County.
The NWS at Indy Aiport records a 47MPH Wind Gust and finally picked up 0.15" of precipitation bringing the month's total to 0.83". This brings the Year-to-Date total to now 13.98". We are now 9.72" below normal for the year, 7.38" below normal for the season, and 3.22" below normal for July.

Next week, we'll start off in the upper 80s but we are looking to warm back into the mid 90s by mid week. There is a isolated chance for showers and/or thunderstorms for Monday, Tuesday, and Friday.

Temps could cool back to upper 80s, low 90s for next weekend. Looking ahead, temps should stay under triple digit heat for much of the next 2 weeks and more chances for rain could also occur. Here's the latest outlooks from CPC. Have a Good Weekend!
