Frosty Night but a Warm, Wet Week Ahead

Today marks yet another cool day this month. Mornings low dipped down into the mid to upper 30s around the state.
Lafeyette: 35°
Shelbyville: 36°
Terre Haute: 36°
Fort Wayne: 37°
Muncie: 39°
Evansville: 39°
The warm spot was South Bend at 40°. Here in Indianapolis the official low was 39°. Coolest since April 27 (35°), 149 days ago. Todays low was 15° cooler than the avg low of 54°.

Mostly everybody topped 60s today around the state;
Eagle Creek: 61°
Fort Wayne: 61°
Lafeyette: 62°
Muncie: 62°
Shelbyville: 62°
Bloomington: 63°
Indy: 63°
Terre Haute: 66°
Evansville: 67°
The chilly spot, only 57° in South Bend today. Certainly a late fall-like chill in the air with highs more typical for October 22nd and lows more typical for November 4th. Today was the 14th day this month and 10th consecutive day with an average daily temp (combo of high and low) below normal. Now, 14 out of the past 16 days have been below normal.

Tonight, we'll be under clear skies, with calm winds, low dew point and surface temps which will allow for some frost to form. Much of the state (& Ohio Valley) is under a Frost Advisory effect from 2am-9am Monday Morning (highlighted in the map below). Temps here in central indiana will be into the mid to upper 30s. I am going with 37°. Some areas away from the city could drop to 32°-33°. There are currently NO freeze watches or warnings in effect for the state. You'll certainly need to cover up your plants and allow yourself a few extra minutes to scrape the frost of your vehicles windshield to start the new work week.

Tomorrow, high pressure will continue to move East this will allow us to tap into that southerly air flow and warm us up. With the dry atmosphere and sunny skies we will warm up some 30-35° to a high at or around 70.

An approaching warm front will move into our region and stall out. We'll not only warm up into the low-to-mid 70s midweek but we'll also add daily chances for rain for the next 7-10 days. Not all will be ALL DAY washouts we will certainly have many dry hours in between. Some days some may not see a drop, particularly on Thursday and again on next Sunday. A few rumbles of thunder and flashes of lightning cannot be ruled out. At the moment, not looking at any severe weather chances but will monitor and update if conditions worsen. We are expecting a pretty good dose of rainfall, for now, I'm calling for a 14 day total for 2" to as much 3" or even more under a strong storm for Indianapolis.
