3PM Afternoon Weather Update

Cold air is temporarily fading. We started from the coldest afternoon for this winter season on the 1st with a high of 16° and now temperatures have made a run into the 50s. The temp at 2pm was 49° and now at 3pm its 52°. Back to spring we go! There's showers out to the west in Illinois making its way into Central Indiana. On the left below is a stilled look at radar. The second image is radar in motion. If your viewing this at any other time beyond 3PM than its likely the second image looks different than what I am describing. Showers should reach the city anytime after 7 or 8pm. Rainfall totals should be 0.30" or less. Showers will be with us throughout the overnight hours ending with the possibility of a very brief period of snowfall but accumulations should not be expected.

We are in for some more mild days ahead but winter, by any means necessary, is no longer finished. I'll have more details in a blog tomorrow on the possibility of thunderstorms sunday night, several inches of snow mid next week, and the return of some bitterly cold days mid month. Cold, Wintry Valentines Day on tap. In the mean time, here's a look at my current 7 day outlook.
